Comprising of five restored colonial era tea planter residences with the period furnishings and gourmet cuisine, Ceylon Tea Trails is an icon for small luxury resorts in Sri Lanka. Situated at an altitude of 1250m near Hatton in the central highlands, this Relais & Chateaux property offers breathtaking panoramas of mountains and lush tea fields. Each bungalow exudes its own exquisite ambience and comes with a manager, chef, dedicated butler and located approximately 30-45 minutes apart from each other.
The twenty six* rooms are named after tea planters who lived in the respective bungalow. They offer a taste of colonial-era elegance with solid teak furnishings, antique touches and four poster beds. In room spa pampering, all-inclusive meals and an array of outdoor activities awaits the guests at this amazing tea bungalow resort.
*Note: Tea Trails Summerville bungalow will have one more Garden Suite added. Norwood will undergo a soft refurbishment. Tientsin Bungalow's major renovation is due early 2017.
Types of Rooms
Norwood Bungalow
The bungalow at Norwood commands a fine view of the eastern end of the Bogawantalawa valley and has a spacious lounge, billiard room, a croquet lawn and a swimming pool. There are two Luxury Rooms, three Garden Suites and one Master Suite.
Tientsin Bungalow
It is named after the Chinese village from which the original tea seedlings came. The six rooms consist of two Luxury Rooms, three Garden Suites and one Master Suite. A large swimming pool and raised garden offers panoramic views of the tea-carpeted mountains.
Castlereagh Bungalow
A guest approaching the bungalow from the road can get tantalizing views of the Castlereagh reservoir, a highlight of this place. The bungalow offers a Luxury Room and four Garden Suites.
Summerville Bungalow
High above the reservoir at the edge of a tea plantation, Summerville enjoys magnificent views of the water and beyond. There is a Luxury Room, two Garden Suites* and one Master Suite.
Dunkeld Bungalow
Poised high above Castlereagh reservoir, the bungalow looks down on the Dunkeld estate and the tea factory, with spectacular views of the Great Western mountain range. The infinity-edge swimming pool, the hot tub and the secluded ‘Owner’s Cottage’ are some of its highlights. It has a Luxury Room, two Garden Suites, a Master Suite and the Owners Cottage.
