Hotel overview
Amangalla is located in the heart of the Dutch Fortress in Galle, offering guests a memorable stay in a truly unique location. The hotel surrounds guests with antiques, old prints, polished aged-floors and crisp white linen whilst the staff are always on hand to provide a warm welcome. This Aman property offers 27 Guest Rooms and one Amangalla Suite with two bedrooms, a swimming pool, a library, spa and dining experience at ‘The Zaal’ or the ‘great hall’.
Types of Rooms
Bedrooms
Nine bedrooms are located adjacent to Amangalla's reception on the ground floor, overlooking the garden or the nearby historic Groote Kerk (Great Church).
Chambers
Some of the ten chambers face the Fort ramparts, and others overlook the treetops of the resort garden from balconies or twin porches. An entrance leads into an open plan room, featuring first the bathroom, followed by the bedroom and a separate sitting area.
Suites
There are seven suites looking out onto the trees, the ramparts of the Fort, the harbour, or the mature well-tended gardens. The spacious Suites feature the original polished teak floorboards dating back over 300 years.
Garden House
Situated within the resort gardens, this two-storey house features a private terrace and balcony offering leafy, treetop views. The original, antique furniture of the house has been restored.
Amangalla Suite
The Amangalla Suite is ideal for families as it offers two separate bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms and lounging areas, and a living room. The suite is accessed via a small atrium, which opens onto the first bedroom and the living room, through which the master bedroom is reached. Situated above the resort's spa, the suite features large shuttered windows which overlook peaceful Middle Street from the first bedroom, and the resort's peaceful gardens from the master bedroom.

Garden House features include: a king-size four-poster bed, writing table, dressing cabinet, a spacious bathroom with twin vanities, a free-standing bathtub, toilet and separate shower, an internal stairway connecting the sitting room to the upper level, a pantry serviced by a private butler. Amangalla suite features include: exactly the same size, both bedrooms are furnished with four-poster beds, planters' chairs, pettagama chests, chaises lounges, writing desks, dining table in its lounging area.
