Itinerary

The train comprises five carriages; Two Dining Cars, a Kitchen Car, Lounge Car and an Observation Car with Steam Locomotives 10th Class 156 and 12th class 204 built by Northern British Locomotive works in the 1930’s. Loco 156 was renovated by the famous Wildlife Artist David Sheppard and in 1971 donated to Zambia National Heritage and restored again in 2005. The Beautiful Wembley Dinning Car was built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and went on display in London at the British Empire Exhibition in 1924. It was shipped to the Union and entered service on 19th May 1926. In honour of its exhibition duties it was renamed the Wembley.

Guests are transferred to the train station where the train will be stationed with the locomotive ‘in Steam’ for photographic opportunities. Guests will then board the train through the Lounge Car where drinks and snacks will be offered. The train will travel on the “Cape to Cairo” mainline as it leaves the outskirts of Livingstone and travels to The Victoria Falls World Heritage Site. Game such as elephant and antelope are often spotted en route to the border post. The train will stop on the bridge for approximately 20 minutes and guests will have a chance to disembark from the train at this point. Once back on the train a five course dinner will be served before heading back. Available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
