Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive into Kilimanjaro International Airport

You arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and after clearing customs and immigration procedures, you will be met by our representative, who will be waiting for you outside the airport holding a sign with your name. Afterwards, you will be transferred to Lake Duluti Lodge. The drive from the airport to Lake Duluti Lodge takes approximately one hour.

Lake Duluti Lodge  is made up of 18 contemporary chalets on a small working coffee farm. All have luxurious bathrooms and decks from which to max out on views across the lake and towards impressive Mount Meru. Furnishings lend a glorious, cozy home from home feel with plump cushions and thick rugs on wooden floors, and the food is divine: all farm fresh and home cooked.

Lake Duluti is almost two thirds of a mile (one kilometer) across - and the same deep. The forested walls of the crater, up to 660 feet (200 meters) high, are home to a host of birds - herons, fish eagles, ospreys and kingfishers.

There's plenty to do - you can go canoeing or bird watching. The walk around the lake is a must, the path shaded all day with a tangle of green. Or indulge in a coffee tour so you know where your brew begun.

After breakfast, meet your Driver/Guide at the lodge reception and transfer to Tarangire National Park. Arrive Tarangire Treetops in time for lunch. The drive from Lake Duluti Lodge to Tarangire Treetops takes approximately 3 hours.

Tarangire is one of the least visited parks in northern Tanzania yet its dense population of game from July – November is second only to the Serengeti.

Tarangire Treetops sits amidst Marula trees and ancient Baobabs in a private management area on the border of Tarangire National Park. Allow yourself to feel delightfully excited as you ascend the spiral staircase through a trap door to your very own tree house. The thrill of your childhood dream house coming to life is made all the more magical with the elevated view of the surrounding stunning savannah.

The camp exudes a timeless ambiance, accentuated as you enjoy sundowners in the bar, built around a 1000-year-old Baobab tree. The rooms are some of the biggest in any East African camp and decorated in neutral tones with dhow wood, in accordance with the classic safari atmosphere and a nod of deference towards their arboreal hosts.
Located on an elephant migration pathway, plenty of these extraordinary, enormous animals are attracted to the waterhole in front of the camp or can be heard grazing on the bark of 'your' tree at night. As well as game drives, night safaris and walking tours are an option, get up close and personal with the fascinating Maasai tribe as they welcome you to their village or entertain you at dinner with chants and traditional dances.

The Manor reflects 19th century South African wine lands; a charmingly unusual design when set against the nearby surroundings of two of Tanzania's most iconic locations; Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara. The interiors accentuate the enchanting, old-fashioned atmosphere of the Manor with dark wood furniture, Persian rugs and Victorian-style claw foot bathtubs.

Travel through the Lerai Forest looking for leopard and onto the plains where the wildebeest and zebra graze whilst cheetah and lion lay and watch. Old elephants pass your vehicle whilst further afield rhino wander and hippos hide in the pools. A picnic lunch is provided so you can maximize your day in the crater

Set high on the slopes of the Olmoti Volcano, The Highlands looks out over the Gol Mountains, the Empakaai Crater and all the way to the Serengeti. This unique location promises glorious isolation where one can privately relish in Tanzania's exquisite wilderness.
