Day 2 - London

Familiarise yourself with some of the most recognisable landmarks in the capital today, starting with a flight on the London Eye, from which you gain spectacular views of the city. Your next stop is Westminster Abbey, one of the most well-known churches in England. Steeped in royal history, it is the traditional venue for coronations and is the burial site for many monarchs. Continue to Trafalgar Square and its celebrated Nelson’s Column, then head down Whitehall and past Downing Street, to the Palace of Westminster, better known as the Houses of Parliament. Finally, this morning, drive past Buckingham Palace, the King's official residence in London.

Following time at leisure for lunch, head for the Tower of London - the incredible historic castle built by William the Conqueror in 1078, where you are welcomed by an iconic Beefeater. Used as a royal residence and a prison, it is now home to the dazzling Crown Jewels, which are closely guarded by the Yeoman Warders. Before you leave, take time to enjoy the outstanding views of Tower Bridge. Complete your day with a visit to St Paul's Cathedral, which was famously rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Day 4 - London – Salisbury – Stonehenge – Bath

Say goodbye to London as you head westwards, crossing the charming English countryside to reach the city of Salisbury. Meet your local guide and admire the 13th-century cathedral which boasts the highest medieval spire in England. Housed in the exquisite Chapter House is an original copy of the Magna Carta, one of the most celebrated documents in English history. Only four copies of Magna Carta dating from 1215 have survived the ravages of time and Salisbury Cathedral is home to the best-preserved original manuscript.

Continue on your journey, driving past the hill of Old Sarum, the original site of Salisbury that dates back 5,000 years. Making your way up to Salisbury Plain, visit Stonehenge, arguably the most famous prehistoric site in Europe. Your driver-guide gives you an overview of the history of the stones and accompanies you on your visit, including the short mini-bus trip from the visitor centre to the location of the stones (Please note: it is not possible for visitors to walk amongst the stones during public opening hours); for more in-depth information your driver-guide is happy to obtain Stonehenge’s comprehensive audio-guides. Your final leg of the journey takes you to the Georgian spa town of Bath, where you check in to your hotel.

Day 5 - Bath

Along with your local guide, discover the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, often regarded as one of the loveliest cities in all of England. From its beginnings as a Roman camp in the first century AD, Bath developed through troubled centuries to emerge, in the 1700s, as a fashionable spa resort. Tour the site of the Roman Baths, which today is one of the finest historic places in Northern Europe. Here, following a brief introduction by guide, you explore at your own pace with the Roman Baths’ audio-guide.

Next to the Baths is the splendid Bath Abbey, with magnificent stained-glass windows, honey-gold stone and some of the finest Gothic-style fan vaulting in the world. Before leaving the city to explore some of the surrounding villages, admire the magnificent Palladian architecture for which the city is renowned, best viewed from the Circus and the Royal Crescent. In the afternoon, you may also like to visit Number One Royal Crescent that has been authentically restored to its Georgian appearance.
