COVID-19 Protocols & Entry Requirements

International Travel Status

You no longer need a pre-departure Covid-19 negative test to enter New Zealand. This applies to people entering New Zealand from anywhere in the world.

Travellers need to be vaccinated and take 2 rapid antigen tests (RATs) after arriving in New Zealand.

If you transit through New Zealand, you no longer need to be vaccinated, or complete the New Zealand Traveller Declaration.

Access into New Zealand

Access into New Zealand is permitted through all international airports. 

Most travellers must meet COVID-19 vaccination requirements before travelling to New Zealand by air. You will be required to provide proof of your vaccinations.

If you do not meet the vaccination requirements, you will not be able to enter New Zealand.

Entry Requirements

To enter New Zealand, you must be fully vaccinated prior to boarding your flight –

You must complete an online declaration form titled Nau Mai Ra (72) hours prior to your scheduled travel to New Zealand.  The link to the form is:- https://naumaira.covid19.govt.nz/

When you arrive in New Zealand - You will be given your welcome pack at Biosecurity once you have gone through Customs.

Your welcome pack has:
* rapid antigen test (RAT) kits
* a guide to testing.

Upon arrival into New Zealand, you must have a Rapid Antigen Test on Day 1 and Day 5 or 6.  You must report the results (negative or positive) to the Ministry of Health. 

You will receive an email from the New Zealand Ministry of Health after you complete your Traveller declaration form. Follow the instructions in the email and report your results using the link in the email.

If you obtain a positive result, you must isolate for 7 days.

New Zealand considers you to be fully vaccinated if you have completed a course, including a mixed dose, of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised vaccine. Current vaccines and dosages accepted for the purposes of travel are in the attached link:

It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the requirements of the airline you are travelling with and any countries you transit.

COVID-19 Testing

PCR testing is available in all tourist destinations in New Zealand.  At this stage mobile testing cannot be arranged at a guest’s accommodation and we will update you on this once more information becomes available.

RATs are given at airport on arrival (3 per person for self-reporting on Day 1 / Day 5) and are available to purchase at pharmacies across NZ should clients require more)

Clinical opening times can vary considerably – some are open 12 hours a day and do not require a booking whilst others do require a booking slot to be confirmed.

Costs vary according to location, type of test and type of facility.. Approximate Pricing can range from NZ100 to NZD250 pp.
