Largely undiscovered by the outside world, this striking land is one of the last great pristine wildernesses in Africa and takes in a huge diversity of habitats.
Lions, cheetah, wild dogs, hyena, buffalo, hippo and giraffe can all be seen within the boundaries of Gonarezhou, but this country is known, first and foremost, as the Land of the Elephant. Gonarezhou National Park is one of Africa's last remaining true pristine wilderness areas.

Day 5 - Lake Kariba
The days are at leisure to enjoy the game viewing activities on offer. Bumi is unique among luxury safari lodges because of the exquisite added dimension of the water - Kariba is among the world’s largest man-made lakes and a genuine African wilderness with far more animals than people. This allows for glorious game viewing by boat as well as the traditional open 4 x 4 vehicles and walking in the wilds with an armed professional guide.
Bumi is the prime fishing region of Kariba and is a major attraction that sets Bumi apart from any traditional luxury safari lodge. Here it is rated one of Africa’s Top 20 adventures. You will thrill to catching the razor toothed tiger, pound-for-pound one of the world’s most powerful freshwater species. The Bumi area also offers truly incredible birdlife, especially water birds, and hundreds of species have been recorded. It is a thrilling location for photography of the majestic scenery and wildlife, but also the prolific bird life for enthusiasts.

Shaded by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees, the camp accommodates guests in ten spacious and beautifully decorated en suite tents, including two family rooms, all of which overlook the river. The central dining, bar and lounge areas face the escarpment, and there is a separate pool deck swimming and sunbathing, and an inviting fire deck for convivial evenings under the African skies. A romantic star-bed situated nearby overlooking a productive waterhole completes the Ruckomechi experience.

Canoes are a more adventurous option to see the large numbers of water birds and other wildlife that are attracted to the river and seasonal pans.
