COVID-19 Protocols & Entry Requirements

International Travel Status

Open - Tanzania reopened its borders to international guests in mid-May 2020.

Access into Tanzania

Kilimanjaro International Airport, Dar es Salaam International Airports and Zanzibar International Airport are open and so are all land borders.

Airlines flying into the country include:

- Ethiopian Airlines
- Qatar Airways
 -KLM
- Turkish Airlines
- Kenya Airways
- Emirates

Entry Requirements

All travellers entering or transiting through land borders, sea ports, or airports are advised to be fully vaccinated.

Travelers are not required to present a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a  RT-PCR certificate or to perform a Rapid Antigen Test on arrival. However, thermal and physical screening will continue at the ports of entry.

All departing travellers from Tanzania are advised to adhere to the COVID-19 requirements of their destination country.

 

COVID-19 Testing

Arusha:

PCR Testing is done at Selian Hospital and Mount Meru Hospital. Cost: USD 90 per person. Open daily from 08:00 to 15:00. 

Rapid test is done at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Cost: USD 10 per person payable cash on the spot. Guests must arrive 3 to 4 hours before their flight to do the test. 

Moshi:

PCR Testing is done at KMCM Hospital. Cost: USD 90 per person. Open daily from 08:00 to 15:00.

Karatu

PCR Testing is done at Family Clinic. Cost: USD 90 per person. Open daily from 08:00 to 15:00.

Dar es Salaam

PCR Testing is done at Aga Khan Hospital and IST Clinic. Cost: USD 100 per person to be paid at the center via credit card. Hospital facilitation fee: 50 USD per person. Transport fee: will be advised at the time of booking. Cash or Card accepted. Open daily from 08:00 to 15:00.

Rapid test that is required by KLM is done at Dar es Salaam International Airport. Cost: USD 25 per person. Guests must arrive 6 hours before their flight to do the test. Due to the high traffic levels in Dar es Salaam guests will have to wait at the airport until their flight departs.

Zanzibar

Zanzibar offers 3 types of tests:

1. PCR results are given in 24 - 48 hours, this can be done:
a. at Migombani center, cost 80 USD pp
b. or guests can select a Mobile clinic for which the Health Authority comes to the hotel the guests stay, which costs 120 USD pp.
2. PCR – Rapid result, a certificate issued in 3 hours, guests to arrive at the airport 6 hours prior to their departure (so as to be on the safe side), cost 100 USD pp
3. RAT = rapid antigen test, this can be done at Migombani center or the airport, cost 25 USD pp, although being this an antigen test some countries (such as Kenya) will not accept it as a valid document to enter the country, thus guests will have to rely on PCR.
