Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you will be met plane side and assisted clearing customs and immigration and collecting your luggage. Proceed to the Arrivals Hall where you are met by our representative who will hand over your final documentation and transfer you to the Federal Air Lounge. The transfer time is approximately 15 minutes.

Depart Johannesburg by commercial flight to Skukuza Airport. The flying time is approximately one hour.
You will be met by our representative who will transfer you by road to Jock Main Lodge. The transfer time is approximately 45 minutes.

Jock Main Lodge is nestled where the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers flow as one, situated in the south-western corner of the Kruger National Park. The lodge emulates the timeless style and elegance of a classic safari lodge, with the addition of modern comforts and conveniences. The secluded thatched suites offer privacy and uninterrupted views of the riverbed, reimagined with a private sala area offering evening sleep out options.

Traversing through the concession, the wildlife is sometimes staggering in its diversity. Enthralling sightings of elephants, a sea of buffalo horns rising from the grass as they lie resting in the growing heat as well as prides of lions, awaits one. At dusk, a vantage point is chosen overlooking one of the many breathtaking vistas of the Kruger National Park. Sundowners are enjoyed while tales of the bush are told; and a glimpse of what this unique wilderness has to offer is seen while being entranced by the ever changing colours of the sky as the sun slips into the timeslot of tomorrow.

Day 2 - Kruger National Park

The day is at leisure to enjoy the lodge activities on offer.

Walking Safari’s are encouraged, after a hearty breakfast, moving through the veld enjoying vistas of unsurpassed beauty and discovering one’s place in the cycle of nature. The diversity of fauna and flora truly comes alive when viewed on foot.

For the avid birdwatcher, abundant species of bird are regularly seen on the concession including raptors such as the Martial, Tawny and Fish Eagles as well as Steppe Buzzards. The tranquil atmosphere at the lodge allows for unique birding opportunities as man slows down, finding the rhythm of nature and begins to truly observe.

Day 3 - Kruger National Park

A perfect day to wrap up your safari on a relaxation retreat!

The vast expanse of this wild land slows one down and with this inner peace comes an ability to really incite the senses. The Pilgrims Rest Retreat offers an escape to enjoy some pampering. Day 4 - Kruger National Park to Kapama Game Reserve

Meet your guide in the reception area of the lodge for your road transfer to Skukuza Airport. The transfer time is approximately 45 minutes.

Board your private charter flight to Hoedspruit Airport where you will be met by your guide for your safari transfer to Kapama Southern Camp.

Offering an authentic African safari experience and stretching across 13 000 hectares, towards the Kruger area, Kapama Southern Camp is meticulously positioned within this wildlife sanctuary. Located in the extreme south of the reserve, the camp offers luxury-thatched suites. All suites are discreetly hidden in the surrounding indigenous forest that’s alive with birdsong.

The remainder of your day is at leisure to enjoy a game viewing activity.

Accompanied by a skilled ranger and tracker, guests can expect to encounter a diverse range of animal and bird species on game drives. En route, you’ll stop for a sundowner drink and will have a chance to stretch your legs as you watch the sun set over the distant peaks of the Drakensberg mountains. As darkness falls, the nocturnal animals of the bush come out. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge.

Day 5 - Kapama Private Game Reserve

Feel Africa underfoot on a guided bush walk with a highly trained game ranger. The experience offers an intimate encounter with nature and wildlife, and medicinal and other plants are identified en route. A bush walk through Kapama Private Game Reserve is a truly memorable and authentic encounter.

Later on, adventure awaits you.

Enjoy a night under the open African skies!

The Kapama Romantic Sleep-out offers a million-star overnight experience. Sleeping in the open air on the reserve, elevated high above the ground under the African night sky, is a uniquely romantic experience. A raised platform is evocatively furnished with an oversized bed festooned in white linen and billowing mosquito netting. It’s completely safe, while being surrounded by only wilderness and wildlife. The experience is guaranteed to take your breath away.

You will arrive before sunset to watch the changing colours of evening and sip a sundowner. The African bush fairytale continues with a five-course dinner served to you by a personal chef at an intimate table for two on the platform. Or you can enjoy dinner at the lodge and arrive at your romantic sleep-out venue afterwards. By night, it will be encircled by a ring of golden lantern light. Your private night in the African bush continues until after dawn, when you will call your ranger by radio to transfer you back to your lodge.

Day 6 - Kapama Private Game Reserve

Day 7 - Kapama Private Game Reserve to Johannesburg

Meet your guide in the reception area of the lodge for your shared lodge road transfer to Eastgate Airport in time for your commercial flight to O.R. Tambo International Airport.

On arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport, a Menzies representative will meet you planeside and assist you through to the Arrivals Hall where you are met by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. The transfer time is approximately 45 minutes.

Located in the commercial and residential Rosebank suburb, the hotel offers an unparalleled stay just 10 kilometers from the hustle and bustle of exciting Johannesburg. Day 8 - Johannesburg to Okavango Delta

Meet your guide in the reception area of the hotel for your private road transfer to OR Tambo International Airport.

Upon arrival at Maun Airport, clear customs and immigrations and make your way to the Arrivals Hall where you will be met and assisted onto your shared light aircraft flight to Kanana. The flying time is approximately 25 minutes. Kindly note however, that all inter-camp flights are subject to multiple pick-ups and drop-offs en route to your destination, which could affect the flying time.

A hidden jewel on the Xudum River, Kanana is located in the southwest of the Okavango Delta. The area encompasses a necklace of islands dotted with palms, figs, ebony and knobthorn, and is home to a myriad of birds, plants and animals. The nature of the habitat means it is the perfect place to experience the diversity of species found within the Okavango Delta.

The remainder of your day is at leisure to enjoy the camp activities on offer.

Game drives are conducted with a guide in specially-designed vehicles that allow unhindered game viewing and photography.
Game drives often continuing into the evening offering the opportunity of seeing nocturnal inhabitants of the area.

Day 9 - Okavango Delta

Today you get a chance to enjoy a mokoro excurision.

The annual floods transform Kanana’s private concession into a true water paradise, offering guests the best of both worlds. Climb aboard a Mokoro with your ʻpolerʼ and your partner, and enjoy exploring the Okavango Deltaʼs tranquil waterways.

After an adventurous day, an eventful night awaits you!

The sleep out deck at Kanana overlooks an expansive water hole and is a mere 20 minutes gentle drive from camp. Constructed on two levels, the upper deck provides your sleeping quarters, with star lit views as you will only find in the African night sky, while the lower deck provides easily accessible amenities for those annoying calls of nature, which may drag you from your warm blankets!

After dinner in camp, you are escorted to your sleep out adventure, and find the deck appearing through the darkness lit up by flickering lamps. As you nestle deep into your comfortable bed, beneath a mosquito net, let the cool night air and African bush sounds wash over you and drift into a deep and restful sleep. Your armed guide will sleep nearby in his own tent available at an instant to assist you or return you to camp should you decide to return to your own tent.

Awakening refreshed with the light of the new day, hot coffee and tea awaits and the dawn chorus and the spectacular colours of the dawn sky can be enjoyed from the warm cocoon of your bed. At your leisure you can then enjoy a short game drive on the way back to camp for a sumptuous breakfast.

Day 10 - Okavango Delta

Your last day is at leisure to enjoy the activities offered at Kanana.

The focus of activities at Kanana varies with the rising and falling levels of the Okavango Delta. Enjoy the magnificent variety of birds, plant and reptile species found in the area. Birding is spectacular with Kanana hosting a seasonal heronry that is one of the largest in Southern Africa, a highlight that converts all visitors to avid 'twitchers'. 

Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy motorboat trips to some of the Okavango Deltaʼs best fishing spots, for a chance to experience the beautiful surroundings before landing a variety of species such as tilapia and tiger fish, African pike and sharp tooth catfish.

Take a guided bush walk to gain a detailed understanding of this diverse environment, which features gems such as red lechwe bounding through marshy areas, a kaleidoscope of birdlife, plus predators and big game. Walks can also be taken on small islands where the extraordinary Pelʼs Fishing Owl is known to nest.

Day 11 - Depart

Depart Kanana by shared light aircraft flight to Maun. The flying time is approximately 25 minutes. Kindly note however, that all inter-camp flights are subject to multiple pick-ups and drop-offs en route to your destination, which could affect the flying time.

Depart Maun to Johannesburg.

On arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport, a Menzies representative will meet you planeside and assist you to your onward flight.
