Day 3 - Livingstone to Chobe National Park

After breakfast you are transferred to Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero. The transfer time is approximately one hour and 30 minutes.

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero borders the Chobe National Park, which is the second largest national park in Botswana. Chilwero, means “place of high view” in the local language of Setswana. Sitting above the Chobe River, the lodge offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains as far across as Namibia. Each of the 14 thatched guest cottages has two showers, one inside and one outside. The en suite bathroom also has a large free-standing bath.

The lodge has a swimming pool and sumptuous meals are lovingly prepared by the expert culinary staff. Guests can expect an eclectic fusion of African cuisine and Western delicacies. Inspired by the abundance of nature that surrounds the lodge, the spa has drawn from that beauty to develop a range of treatments and rituals of the highest quality to relax, restore and revitalize guests. Relax in the split-level swimming pool, unwind with a pampering session in the spa or enjoy the gourmet food that the lodge has become known for.

Your afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the game viewing activities on offer.

Elephants feature largely on any activity at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero, as the largest population left in Africa occupies this northern corner between Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Zimbabwe. Game drives in open-sided 4x4 vehicles bring these grey giants into easy reach as they drink and frolic at the water's edge in their boisterous herds. Thrilling game drives lead by qualified professional guides bring you close to hippos, buffalos, puku and other animals that gather on the banks of the Chobe River. Naturally, lion and leopard are also found in the area.

Day 4 - Chobe National Park

Today is at leisure to enjoy the activities on offer.

Sundowner Cruise - The best way to end a day of safari here is sipping on a cocktail while watching an African sunset over the still waters of the Chobe River from the comfort of one of the specially designed riverboats. Sundowner cruises are also a great way of seeing buffalo up close as they come out of the shade to graze in the cooler evenings on the bank of the river and elephants as they wade in the river.

The main area features a bar from where refreshing drinks are always served with a smile, a small library area and curio shop. From the swimming pool - a real treat after a hot day of game viewing - guests can watch giraffe and other plains game march across the savannah and sometimes catch a glimpse of rare wild dogs.

Day 6 & 7 - Okavango Delta

The day is at leisure to enjoy the game viewing activities on offer.

Game Drives: Enjoy up close game viewing with your expert guide on morning and evening game drives in 4x4 vehicles. A night game drive is the perfect means to see some of the nocturnal animals one wouldn't see during the day time. During higher water levels game drives will be combined with motorised boating excursions. (Night drives are seasonal, depending on water levels.)

Walking Safaris: Find out how to track and follow even the most elusive of animals in the Okavango. With the camp being set in a private concession, there is the opportunity to get very close on foot in perfect safety with one of the guides.

Mokoro Excursions: One of the best ways to see the wildlife is in one of the locally made dugout canoes, known as mokoros. In one of these traditional crafts it is possible to float around the waterways and lagoons that make up the delta. This gentle and informative mode of safari is unique to the river Bushmen. (Subject to water levels).
