Please note: This itinerary is recommended for March to November. Peak surf season is June to August and this when the waves are at their busiest. Shoulder months such as March to April or October to November are often less crowded and more enjoyable.

Day 1 - Arrive in Bali  |  Canggu

Check in at COMO Uma Canggu, a sleek beachfront property on the southern coast of Bali. This area is home to a lesser known surf scene, one without the Kuta crowds, where rolling waves break in alluring curls and the mood is carefree. The resort offers access to Canggu’s surf waves and laid-back café scene with some of the island’s best sunset views, live acoustic music and DJs by the beach. Within easy walking distance, Echo Beach is a popular spot for surfing with advanced reef breaks, gorgeous seascapes and laid-back seafood cafés.

Day 2 - Private Surf Safari  |  Canggu

Over the next two days, ride the waves in the mornings with your own private surf guide, including private transport and surf gear. Your guide will select the best spots according to your interests, ability and surf conditions. During peak surf season, between May and September, consider practicing your moves at Batu Bolong Beach or hit Berawa Beach, a mellow semi reef for surfers of all levels.

Day 4 - Transfer to Central Bali  |  Ubud

Opt to rise early for a morning surf on your own at Echo Beach. Upon request A&K can arrange equipment rental in advance at the onsite surf center. In the late morning, depart on your private transfer to Ubud.

Take a break from surfing and experience nature at its finest in the lush forests and rice fields of Ubud in Central Bali.

Day 5 - Rice Valley Picnic  |  Ubud

Explore Bali’s picture-postcard rice fields, villages and mountains with an easy bike ride in the foothills of Batukaru Mountain. Savor a picnic lunch amid cascading rice fields in Jatiluweh Valley.

Spend the afternoon at leisure with time to explore more of Ubud at your own pace or indulge in a spa experience or traditional massage at your resort.

Day 6 - Cycling Ubud Villages  |  Ubud

Cycle through villages on the edge of Mount Batur, an active volcano surrounded by fruit plantations and tropical rainforest valleys. Taste a local family’s Balinese cakes, visit an orange plantation, discover a village of wood carvers and savor lunch of authentic Balinese flavors.

Day 7 - Escape to Nihi Sumba  |  Sumba Island

Fly to Sumba Island for a five-night stay at a remote surfer’s paradise. Complete with sweeping views of the Indian Ocean, Nihi Sumba offers barefoot luxury with world-class surfing instructors, yoga gurus and freediving specialists on hand to elevate your experience.

Nihi Sumba is home to one of the world’s most coveted waves. The tide, size, strength and direction of “Occy’s Left” presents a challenge, even for the most experienced surfers, but if you catch the right moment, you can enjoy up to three hundred meters (985 feet) of thrilling ride down the line through ripple walls and barrels.

Please note: Due to its popularity, the resort limits Occy’s Left to 10 surfers per day and advance reservations are essential. Upon request, A&K can request a surfing slot as a part of our accommodation arrangement (maximum one slot per villa, subject to availability). Please advise early if this is of interest.

Day 8 - Surfer’s Paradise  |  Sumba Island

Enjoy a day at leisure at Nihi Sumba. Upon request, A&K can arrange a private surf session with an instructor to improve your surf skills and experience the resort’s world-class waves. Breakfast or lunch can be arranged for you on the beach followed by light surfing in secluded cove.

Day 9 - Sumba at Leisure  |  Sumba Island

Enjoy another day at leisure at Nihi Sumba. This is a good opportunity to indulge in a spa safari, an adventure for all your senses with a sunrise trek to a traditional Sumbanese village followed by a scenic breakfast and private body wrap, scrub or massage at the cliffside spa. This experience can be arranged upon request.

Day 10 - Sumbanese Safari  |  Sumba Island

Indulge in another blissful day, surrounded by sun, sand and sea at Nihi Sumba. Upon request, A&K can arrange an optional excursion to explore more of Sumba Island. You may wish to learn more about the Sumba Foundation’s engagement with the local Sumbanese people through clean water projects, health clinics and volunteer programs, or explore the island’s arts and crafts markets or local culinary traditions.

Day 11 - Sumba Adventures  |  Sumba Island

Spend your final full day at Nihi Sumba at your leisure. Upon request, A&K can arrange a canoe or paddleboard adventure in the rivers of Wanukaka Valley. Float past riverbank village life and look out for the occasional water buffalo along the way, with a picnic lunch overlooking the beach and rice fields.
