Day 2 - Athens

Enjoy a morning discovering the rich heritage of Greece’s capital with your expert guide. This morning’s tour introduces you to the complex of monuments that most symbolise Athens - the Acropolis. The highlight of your tour to the Acropolis is the Parthenon, one of the most important ancient monuments in the Western world, which was dedicated to the Goddess Athena and was conceived in 447BC. At the foot of the Acropolis Rock is the Acropolis Museum, which exhibits around 4000 articles in natural light, with special climate-controlled measures protecting them from sunlight. The most impressive part of the museum is its top floor, where visitors are able to view the famous frieze and then look out on to the view the Parthenon itself. Depending on how long you spend at the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum, there may be time to stroll through the ancient district of Plaka, one of the most picturesque and interesting parts of the city

This afternoon is at leisure to relax or explore Athens independently. You might like to unwind in the well-equipped spa at the hotel, or sip a cocktail at the tranquil pool bar on the rooftop.

Alternative option:

Alternatively, you may prefer to visit the Acropolis later on instead and enhance your visit by continuing on to the Acropolis Museum with a privately-guided tour after public opening hours. This tour culminates with a special dinner up on the museum's rooftop terrace where you enjoy spectacular views of the Parthenon illuminated beneath the night sky.

Day 3 - Athens – Cape Sounion - Athens

This morning, venture along the scenic coast to Cape Sounion where you visit the ancient ruined Temple of Poseidon. The temple enjoys an impressive position, high on the cliffs, and has, over the centuries, been marked by many travellers’ carved signatures, including that of Lord Byron. After touring the site, you return to Athens.

Continue with a visit to one of the best wineries on the island, sure to convince you that this Aegean Sea isle, with some of the oldest vineyards in the world, produces truly unique white wine using the Assyrtiko grape. Red wine connoisseurs, however, are very much impressed by the up-and-coming Mavrotragano variety.
